THE KALIMANTAN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL PROJECT

Evangelist Lily Priscilla is a single young woman that not too long ago 1990-1996 stayed with Pastor Lody and his family Agam & Ilse Poernama in Kemang Utara, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Lily was a very special determined young person, loving God with all her heart, mind and soul, wanting to do many great things in the Kingdom of God. But she had a very big "Drawback", she was not able to read nor write.

As our love for her grew, our family became her parents and mentor and gave her the opportunity to learn to read and write. In a very short time she mastered both, and we believe this to have been a special intervention from the Lord.

After her success, she went to Bible School, learning the Word of God and evangelized first on Java, but was guided by The Holy Spirit to work in Kalimantan (Borneo) in the outskirts of the city Pontianak, in a mountainous region called Dusun Tikalong, Desa Ansiap.

The Holy Spirit led her to evangelize to the Dayak children, teaching them at an early young age the skills she herself was deprived off. Lily and team with the help of many people and sources, build a church (that can hold approximate 400 people) that today has grown to approximate 250 people and still is going forward by leaps and bounds.

The City of Praise has been helping her project during the last 3 years, besides other contributors such as Agam & Ilse Poernama from Jakarta.

Pastor Lody and Mr. Agam recently visited her to see the progress. They can only report to you that God's Work through the Kalimantan team is just awesome.

The existing school of 3 meager rooms made from wood planking, cut by a chainsaw teaches 3 classes from the 5th through the 8th grade. The classroom use is shifted in three time periods. Ending no later than 12 o'clock noon as the heat build up in the classrooms are intolerable by this hour.

An additional small building was also erected to house approx. 35 children - to 4th grade. The total school has 87 students a faculty of 8 teachers, an additional 40 students on standby waiting for classrooms. No medical facilities whatsoever. Medical facilities will be built as soon as funds provides for it.

The City of Praise has committed itself to help build a 10 classroom building which plans are shown here in, including some pictures for you to get a feeling and appreciation for the work already done and the work left to be done.

The City of Praise hopes and prays that it may find open hearts and minds to help pray and support this project with funding.

Why Kalimantan? First, Jesus said, "Go ye into all of the world and preach the Good News to all creation". Second, $14,500. - spend in the USA will buy a good used car. In Kalimantan (Borneo) it will buy a large building, including all educational books and paraphernalia, teaching up to 300 children so they may have a chance to become educated future leaders in Indonesia.
